MUBAS ELECTORAL COMMISSION REVOLUTION
The Malawi University of business and applied sciences (MUBAS) through the students representative union has announced a new order in the election process.
According to a Memo released by the general secretary of the students union, Hope Banda, Only class representatives from various classes will be allowed to participate in the elections. The memo further guides on the position which various individuals can compete against. Class reps from Fourth and Fifth year are the only ones allowed to compete for presidency whilst class reps from third year are allowed to compete for vice presidency, the general secretary and their corresponding positions. On the other hand, class reps from first and second year can run for the committee member position like entertainment director.
Speaking to one of the students, Kingsley Ajida, complained that this change will mean the end of the prestigious campaign period which acted as an "Active" academic break on them as they were enjoying the general assemblies during this period.
The change will symbolize that no ordinary students at the institution shall be able to vote and compete in the upcoming elections which will be held on the 8th September.
